Used Car Loans Do Exist

People tend to think that just because a car is used and cheaper they can't get an auto loan for it. This is not true, a good used car can still be expensive enough to warrant an auto loan. The problem with used car loans is that some lenders might not want to give you a loan for a used car and if they do you can be charged a very high interest rate. Finding the right used car loan is key. Overall the loan works the same as a new car loan. You pay a monthly payment and an interest rate over the life of your loan. You will also have to choose whether or not to get your used car loan from a dealership or an outside lender. If you don't buy your used car at a dealership, maybe you found it through classified adds, then you obviously can't go to the dealership to get your used car loan. It is important that you find a used car loan that has a reasonable interest rate and is not afraid to loan you money to buy a used car.

Loan Vs Lease

Whether you are buying a new car or a used car there will always be the option of leasing out your car. Leasing is basically renting your car, you make a monthly payment over the length of the lease and then turn your car back into the dealership when your lease is up. Leasing your car usually means lower monthly payments, however there are a few drawbacks. They include:

  • When your lease is up you turn your car back in, but when your loan is up you get to keep the car. This allows you to sell it later and gain some money back. When you lease you don't build equity.
  • Leasing agreements have a certain amount of requirements for the upkeep of the car when you turn it on. Your might have an allotted amount of miles that, if you go over, could cause you to pay a fine when you turn the car in.
  • The car has to be in a good condition when you return it or you will have to pay a fine.
  • Bad credit is more of a problem when you are leasing as opposed to getting a loan.

While leasing has its advantages it is a better choice for most people to take out a loan. Not only is it less complicated but you can keep your car when it is all said and done.
